There has been an interruption in production of blood culture bottles. The Johns Hopkins Prevention Epicenter Blood Culture Stewardship Collaborative, with the support of the CDC, has developed a resource to optimize blood culture utilization. This algorithm may be used to guide clinicians in the setting of a blood culture bottle shortage and moving forward for work in blood culture stewardship.
The Johns Hopkins Medicine team requests that any investigational studies conducted utilizing this algorithm are not published until the JHU team has published their manuscript.
