HMS Coordinating Center Physicians, along with Participating HMS Hospital Physicians Publish Manuscript Evaluating Patterns and Predictors of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter (PICC)–related Occlusion

HMS Coordinating Center Physicians Valerie Vaughn, MD, Scott Flanders, MD, Vineet Chopra, MD, MSc, Steven Bernstein, MD, MPH, Paul Grant, MD, Shawna Smith, PhD, and participating HMS Hospital physicians Tanya Boldenow, MD, and Scott Kaatz, DO, along with Nancy Moureau, RN found of PICC Excellence, Inc. recently published a manuscript in the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology entitled, “Patterns and Predictors of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter Occlusion: the 3P-O study". They conclude that interventions that target several patient, provider, and device characteristics associated with PICC occlusion may prove valuable in reducing these complications.
